First open to the public in 1898, the Westminster Hotel has been housing a broad cross section of northern Canada's most colourful characters. The history of the gold rush has come through these storied doors. There have been some changes through the years but the independent attitude of the north sits down in this hotel for their beverage.

The relaxed atmosphere, good company, and reasonable rates make the Westminster Hotel the residence of choice for travelers interested in shareing of Dawson's down-to-earth culture.

One of Dawson City's premiere venues for lively days and nights of partying, the Westminster Hotel is home to both the Snake Pit and a comfortable lounge where visitors are likely to catch live music.

The Snake pit opens at 9am,  Some mornings the coffee pot gets more action than the beer taps. In the heart of the Klondike the tavern is often the place to meet and greet the day.

The Lounge opens a few hours later, offering an ingeniously sloped pool table adjacent to a cozy corner of couches, with acres of table space ready to hold even the heaviest loads of libations, and plush chairs built to accept patrons of all sizes.
